yeahhhh
i don’t post here anymore. literally, i am not interesting enough for anything more than 140 characters anymore—and even that’s mostly boring. but, you know, if you’re lonely and have run out of internet: @candybeans.

Ok, ok ok. I understand that republicans are republicans, and they will never have any love in their hearts for something originating in the little brain of a democrat. And, this sort of an article wouldn’t bother me at all, if I had seen it in a vacuum.
But.
But, but, but.

Ok, ok, i understand that businesses have to function, and society doesn’t work unless we all make an attempt to contribute to cover our costs on the system, and i’m sure there’s a lot more to this story than is presented here, and $1000 is a lot of money, etc, but, seriously? How is that humane or legal to let the power turn off on an old man’s home in m-f’ing...

If you have ever seen Ann Coulter speak, you will know how brilliant this is. What a loathsome woman. And what a shame it wasn’t on TV—apparently it’s a web exclusive.
First: i see three whole days of rain this week on my weather widget. Three glorious days of rain, and even some cloudy skies and under-85 temperatures. Hurrah for charlemagne.
Second: I finally made it to the LACMA today, after having an exceedingly charming breakfast in a french cafe with a friend. For some reason, amidst wandering around the packed museum, watching the actors and Industry (did...
At the coffee shop near my house, where I do some of my studying, there’s a man who works there that I met the first night I studied there. I probably wouldn’t have met him, if it weren’t for watching him be extremely patient with one particularly awful customer, and just generally very friendly with everyone else. We chatted a bit about what had been holding my attention for the...

– Justices Say Evidence Is Valid Despite Police Error - NYTimes.com
I’m with you, RBG. I can see some good qualities to this policy, but on balance, it makes me nervous. Seems to give cops, who have a great deal of latitude to begin with, even *more* latitude in the admission of slightly dodgy...

No pun intended or anything, but: HOLY FUCK.
update: this is a satire. my heart doesn’t have to explode now.
If I had it to do over, I probably wouldn’t choose the premade chicken curry sandwich and potato salad from the fridge in the cafeteria. It took an embarassingly long time for me to realize that this wasn’t a good choice of meal that I had made, but it took even longer for me to wash away the taste of regret and poor choices. Lesson: keep a backup lunch in the student fridge.

WHATUUUUUPPPPPP!! All you far-left folks who have spent the past couple months hating on Obama: a late Merry Christmas to you all. I hope this is only the first (highly belated) step of what will be many towards an increased commitment to human rights, and the improvement of the US’s global reputation.
It’s a new semester, and only my second in law school, so I’m still figuring out the most effective way for me to read and study, aside from figuring out the material. On Sunday, I was still without word on my computer, so I schlepped to the coffee shop with an old fashioned notebook and wrote my reading notes. This was difficult reading— all about the forming of the...
Know what’s great? Getting to an age where, at the end of the day, with the appropriate amount of maintenance, you like the way you look. It’s not arrogance, or thinking that you’re necessarily better looking than lots of other people, but instead a contentment with your own beauty. This may not happen in a man’s head—maybe it does—but I can’t think of a...

Certain things have happened to my mother since I last lived with her for an extended period of time. Certain aspects of her personality now drive me crazier than ever. This could be caused by a number of factors—who the heck likes far right wing conservatives anymore, but maybe I am mourning the fact that we simply share so few things in common anymore that I don’t feel we have...

– Happy-Go-Lucky (2008): Reviews
this is one of the reviews of the movie i saw this afternoon. as someone coming off a profoundly moody and ill-tempered few weeks, this was a reminder I needed. I’d recommend it for anyone who, like me, has a tendency towards being negative that she knows it...
Know what i’m going to do when i get home? Cut my old supplements and printed outlines into paper snowflakes, and paste them on my windows. my paper snowflakes were always awesome when i was in school. and i’m going to buy some hot chocolate. yes.
I have been alone TOO LONG today. Much, much, *much* too long. I have probably posted about 15 tweets. That means that at least 11 of those were complete crapola. I have looked at websites that i know very well have not been updated since thursday, and will not be updated for many more hours. I have checked my e-mail 78 times. its a combination, i’m sure, of the isolation and boredom that...

Another installment in a series of things that make me laugh and shouldn’t.
It’s nights like these that i really wish i kept some/all of the following stocked:
*Double Stuf Oreos (don’t judge me)
*hot chocolate mix, with mini marshmallows
*more regular marshmallows to throw on top of said included mini marshmallows
*a big ol’ bottle of amaretto (i used to keep such an item stocked, and trust me, it came in handy often)
*ice cream
It has just been...
You know you have a real problem with your neighbors when you find yourself composing a long, multi-part letter to him in your head while you’re lying in bed (after he has woken you) late at night, and it starts off, “You, sir, are the ‘problem neighbor’.” Trust me, my in-head letter was far better composed than this post. I was shooting for tears at the end.
