93-year-old froze to death, owed big utility bill - Yahoo! News
Ok, ok, i understand that businesses have to function, and society doesn’t work unless we all make an attempt to contribute to cover our costs on the system, and i’m sure there’s a lot more to this story than is presented here, and $1000 is a lot of money, etc, but, seriously? How is that humane or legal to let the power turn off on an old man’s home in m-f’ing Michigan during one of the coldest winters in a long time? And you’re trying to blame it on the neighbors? Really? How the hell would they have any idea that a power limiting device had been placed on the old man’s house? And, it’s not like he wasn’t paying his cable or cell phone bill. It’s a municipal power company. The government can afford to leave the damn heat on in January. Belleman, all i have to say is, watch your back, man. you’ve got some nasty karma heading your way.
sigh. as if charlemagne weren’t already grumpy as hell today. i need to go to bed.
