Cornyn seeks to cut short Obama honeymoon
Ok, ok ok. I understand that republicans are republicans, and they will never have any love in their hearts for something originating in the little brain of a democrat. And, this sort of an article wouldn’t bother me at all, if I had seen it in a vacuum.
But.
But, but, but.
If I hadn’t spent the last 8 years hearing about how we should respect the President; we may not like him, but we should be respectful of him, not only play politics, etc etc. Also, how about that logic from a few years back that, when the country is facing a huge national crisis, we should put our differences aside and band together? I’m certainly not suggesting that republicans all roll over and give Obama a big kiss every time he comes up with a new idea, but I am suggesting that an entire political party not decide to be difficult simply for difficult’s sake. Why bother lagging on Hillary Clinton’s confirmation? Why? Did you have legitimate, substantive concerns? If so, bring them up. Why put off an inevitable approval vote? Why constantly, constantly make every issue into a pissing contest since y’all lost? I wish i had a friend who counted herself among the conservative base, so they could give me a less-biased perspective on whether my perception is at all correct, that the republicans seem to engage in more practices which are solely for the purpose of exerting power, instead of accomplishing something constructive. If democrats were doing the same sort of pouty foot-stomping, I sure hope it’d catch my attention and fill me with the same disgust and frustration which it does when done by the republicans—especially when it seems so blatantly hypocritical.
